Student Senate

The Student Senate helps students participate in the college’s shared governance process. The Senate works with the Sierra College community to develop activities, support programs and services to promote student success and foster campus community.

2016-17 Student Senate applications will be available August 22, 2016 in the Campus Life Office (J7).

Meeting Times

Everyone is welcome to attend Student Senate meetings. During the semester the Senate meets Thursdays from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the Board Room in the LRC 113 on the Rocklin Campus.

Student Senate Mission

The Student Senate shall dedicate itself, above all, to the service of the students it represents. To this end, the Student Senate shall:

  • Strive to be a unified voice for a diverse student body, while taking into consideration the unique needs of individual students
  • Promote student’s rights and provide an unbiased forum for voicing student concerns
  • Participate in decisions that affect students, especially through shared governance
  • Responsibly manage ASSC resources, while at the same time striving to provide students with optimum benefits

  • Organize, promote and sponsor student activities and clubs
  • Promote understanding and cooperation between students, faculty, staff, and administration at Sierra College in order to help students achieve their educational goals

Student empowerment, leadership and participation are the tools used to foster student growth outside of the classroom. By providing programs and services which complement the classroom experience, we hope to develop informed, educated leaders.
