A Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) is a program for California community college students who meet specific requirements. There are six participating UC campuses that offer TAG which guarantees admission to the university- UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Santa Cruz. Students are encouraged to make a counseling appointment to find out transfer requirements for schools that do not offer TAG- UC Berkeley, UCLA, and UC San Diego.
To get started, you’ll need to submit the TAG application between September 1-30. Use the UC Transfer Admission Planner (TAP) to complete the TAG. Fill out the application for admission to UC and submit November 1-30. UC Merced and UC Riverside have Spring/Winter TAGs. You’ll need to submit the TAG application between May 1-31.
TAG eligibility differs for each UC and major. It is important to make a counseling appointment each semester in order to meet mandatory requirements.
Please note that:
- Dates, GPA, and other requirements are subject to change.
- You must attend a TAG workshop before making a counseling appointment. Visit Career and Transfer Connections (J-8) to register for a workshop.
- Student MUST have transcripts (unofficial) for ALL colleges and universities attended and transcripts for any Advanced Placement (AP) or other test scores when they write TAG agreement.
- Student is responsible for meeting all admission application & admission requirements as well as other deadlines required by receiving institution.
