The Individualized Learning Program (ILP) offers additional support and tutoring to students.
The ILP Program is specially designed to meet the needs of students who are math anxious or who struggle with math by offering a supportive environment in the ILP Lab and classes. The ILP is open to all Sierra College students. ILP is offered for select Math A and Math D courses, as designated in the Class Schedule.
ILP classes offer a classroom lecture supplemented by an optional lab. ILP classes are 5 units and meet either 2 or 4 days a week. The 4 day a week format allows for more frequent but shorter classes, with smaller amounts of information presented each class session. Additionally, students are permitted to take their exams outside of class in alternative locations such as the LRC Testing Center or the ILP Testing Room. This gives students, especially those with math or test anxiety, the ability to take their exams with minimal stress or distractions.
The ILP Lab is open to students who are currently enrolled in ILP courses, as listed in the class schedule. The ILP Lab is located in V-217 and offers ILP students a place to work on homework and receive assistance from tutors. There are always tutors on duty able to help with any algebra questions on the homework or reviews. The lab has over 40 computers available for ILP students to work on homework or to take quizzes.
