Clear or Waive a Prerequisite or Corequisite

Need to clear or waive a prerequisite or corequisite? Use the Prerequisite Clearance Form or the Appeal Petition Form.

Prerequisite Clearance Form

Clear prerequisites by using classes you have taken from another school. You will have to submit transcripts or test scores from your previous school. Contact Academic Counseling for assistance.

Appeal Petition

You can request to remove course prerequisites or corequisites through:

  • Substitute or waiver: Have we not offered a class requisite for two consecutive semesters? Petition to use a substitute course instead. If no alternative is available, ask to have the requirement waived.
  • Appeal based on knowledge or skill: Already have the knowledge and skill required by a class requisite? Document or demonstrate your understanding to waive requirements.
  • Complaint of unlawful discrimination: Do you think a class requisite is discriminatory? Explain why and petition to waive requirements.

Submit the Appeal Petition form to the Division Dean and then to the Assessment Office.
